First Book Recommendations:

Hi guys! It’s been a while… Anyways, I’ve decided to add a new category, Book Reviews!

  1. Songlight by Moira Buffini

3 stars. ✨

Comment : Great writing, I liked the POV switches, the way all the characters were fleshed out. There was something ethereal about Songlight. I loved the way I could connect to the characters.

Blurb of book:

They are hunting those who shine . . .

Don’t be deceived by Northaven’s prettiness, by its white‑wash houses and sea views. Many of its townsfolk are ruthless hunters. They revile those who have developed songlight, the ability to connect telepathically with others. Friends, neighbours, family will turn on each other in an instant . . .

Lark has lived in grave danger ever since her own songlight emerged. Then she encounters a young woman in peril, from a city far away. An extraordinary bond is forged. But when power is everything, how will they survive?

  1. To Kill A Kingdom

4 stars. 🌟

Comment : I loved this book. I read through it so quickly, and I was totally absorbed by the way that the world was built. It wasn’t too confusing, and wasn’t too overwhelming. The ending did feel slightly rushed, and it threw me off slightly, but other than that the book was amazing!

The blurb:

Princess Lira is siren royalty and the most lethal of them all. With the hearts of seventeen princes in her collection, she is revered across the sea. Until a twist of fate forces her to kill one of her own. To punish her daughter, the Sea Queen transforms Lira into the one thing they loathe most — a human. Robbed of her song, Lira has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian’s heart to the Sea Queen or remain a human forever.

The ocean is the only place Prince Elian calls home, even though he is heir to the most powerful kingdom in the world. Hunting sirens is more than an unsavory hobby — it’s his calling. When he rescues a drowning woman, she’s more than she seems. She promises to help him find the key to destroying all of sirenkind — but can he trust her?
