If you’re reading this first, head back to part 1.

The TV flickers to life. A woman appears on screen, looking pale. “We come with a new announcement. The creatures are now invading homes. There have been casualties. We cannot give any advice other than to follow this map, which leads to the nearest safe house.” A map replaces the woman, and I fumble with my phone to take a picture before the woman comes back. “Follow the tunnels directly, do not look outside, prepare for a two day long journey. In light
of current events, the water supply is back, and a pack of food with be delivered to your door as early as is possible. Be careful.” The screen is black again. I prop myself up on the living room couch and take a deep breath before getting up and changing. I get out two spare changes of clothes, socks, underwear, a flashlight, extra batteries, fill up two water bottles, and stuff it all into the largest backpack I can find. Then there’s a knock on the door, and a note slipped underneath. It reads Pack delivered. Step outside to receive. I do the stupid thing. I open the door.
